March 17 Primary Election is Right Around the Corner!

The March 17 primary election will include candidates for Federal, State, County and other local races.

This year, the ballot includes both Senate and House of Representatives seats in Congress as well as statewide races covering Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller, Treasurer and more. In Cook County, elections for Board President, Assessor, Clerk, Sheriff, and Treasurer will also be on the ballot.

Here is a rundown of how to vote in the upcoming election:

Register to vote:

March 1 is the last day for online voter registration at cookcountyclerkil.gov/agency/register-vote. Registration is also available at Glenview Village Hall, 2500 East Lake Avenue, on weekdays during business hours; at township offices; at any Cook County Clerk’s Office; and at an Illinois Secretary of State’s driver’s license facility.

Mail ballots:

Any registered suburban Cook County voter may request a mail ballot via online application. Once verified and processed, a paper ballot will be sent to the mailing address designated. The deadline to apply is March 12. Apply online at cookcountyclerkil.gov/agency/vote-mail. The last day mail ballots can be postmarked is March 17.

Early voting:

Glenview Village Hall is one of numerous suburban sites serving as an early voting polling place for the March 17 Primary Election. Locations are listed online at cookcountyclerkil.gov/service/early-voting-locations, and you can vote at any of them. Early voting will take place daily at Village Hall from Monday, March 2, through Monday, March 16. Early voting hours at Glenview Village Hall are: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.

Election Day:

Registered suburban Cook County voters can only vote in their home precinct on Election Day. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please note: Village Hall is NOT a polling place on Election Day. To find your polling place on March 17, go online to: cookcountyclerk.com/service/your-voter-information. Residents who are not registered may register and cast a ballot on Election Day thanks to same-day registration and voting. Those who wish to register on Election Day must present two qualifying forms of ID.
