Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Start Date: ASAP
Salary and Benefits: Salary: $54,000-$57,000

Northfield Township is a unit of local government that has been serving residents of Glenview, Northfield, and Northbrook along with some portions of other area suburbs since 1850. An elected Supervisor and Board of Trustees govern the Township. Northfield Township provides support to residents through general and emergency assistance, voter registration and passport services. Referral assistance is available to help identify other social service programs that residents may be eligible for. The Township also serves as a liaison to Cook County to assist residents with property tax questions. For over 50 years, Northfield Township has operated an award-winning food pantry that is sustained entirely by residents, civic organizations, schools, businesses, and the faith community.
Description of responsibilities: The accounting clerk/bookkeeper performs various clerical and routine accounting tasks, including posting entries, verifying and reconciling input to the Township’s accounting firm, processing payments, and/or assisting in preparation of sanitary sewer bills and other financial reports. Respond to inquiries and contact vendors to resolve a variety of problems. Perform general office administrative duties in a team environment focusing on providing exceptional service to all Township residents.
An ideal candidate would possess a bachelor’s degree and three-five years of work experience in the fields of accounting, finance or bookkeeping. Excellent customer service skills, along with the ability to operate in a small team setting with a positive and energetic attitude.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, data entry and experience with financial accounting software. Northfield Township residency is a plus.
