Northfield Township Distributes Human Service Funding to Local Agencies for FY22–23
Based on recommendations from the Northfield Township Human Services Commission, the Northfield Township Board of Trustees approved the allocation of money to support local human service agencies at its February 14th board meeting. A total of 43 agencies received $649,980.00 in funding this year for social service programs that assist residents. Priority was given to agencies that address the most pressing and basic needs of Township residents such as behavioral and mental health, shelter and safety, childcare services, substance abuse and youth services.
Northfield Township Supervisor Shiva Mohsenzadeh stated that, “Northfield Township is proud to be able to support these social service agencies in a meaningful way. The last few years have been a struggle for many and these organizations do an incredible job of making sure our residents’ basic needs are being met.”
The Human Services Commission for FY22-23 chaired by Andrew Katlin. Other members are Jessica Shinn, Joe Klauke, Margaret Hennessy, Joyce Weiner, George Nassos, Susan Kelly, Elsie Kang, Sarah Ogle, Ruth Jacobs, and Beth Michaels Primer. The commission studies each agency and its application prior to making its funding recommendations.
Funded agencies are Access to Care, Arts for Life, Bear Necessities, Cancer Wellness Center, Career Resource Center, CATCH is Community, Center for Enriched Living, Chicago Lighthouse, Children’s Advocacy Center, Clearbrook, Connections for the Homeless, Counseling Center of the North Shore, Debra Gelfand Foundation, Erika's Lighthouse, Family Service Center (FSC), Glenkirk, Glenview Education Foundation (GEF), Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association, Hadley Institute for the Blind & Visually Impaired, Harbour, Haven Youth Services, JCFS Chicago, Josselyn Center, JOURNEYS/The Road Home, KAN-WIN, Keshet, Lifespan, North Shore Senior Center, North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic, North Suburban YMCA, Northwest CASA, Northwest Compass, NSSRAF, Peer Services, Rebuilding Together North Suburban Chicago, SamaraCare Counseling, Special Gifts Theatre, TotalLink2Community, Turning Point Behavioral Health Care Center, Wesley Child Care Center, WINGS, Youth Services, and Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center.
