WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY TELEVISIONS OR COMPUTER MONITORS.
The Northfield Township Recycling program is resuming on Monday, April 5, 2021 during normal Road District business hours of 7:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, and will end for the year on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 3pm.
With the recent COVID-19 crisis and for the safety of staff and attendees, the following protocols have been developed and put in place:
- Residents please be ready to clearly show your Identification indicating you reside within Northfield Township. This service is only for Northfield Township Residents, all others will be turned away.
- Residents and staff members will follow the guidelines determined by the Phase in the “Re-open Illinois” under the Governors order. I.E. Phase 3, Phase 4 or Phase 5.
- During your visit at the Road District recycling center, all efforts will be made by staff and residents to be contactless.
- Residents will be responsible for removing items from their vehicles.
- At the direction of Staff members all items will be place on Road District wagons. They will be sprayed with disinfectant and brought into the facility to be processed.
NO BUSINESS RECYCLING WILL BE ACCEPTED - RESIDENTIAL ONLY!

- Batteries (all types)
- Bikes & toys (usable condition)
- Cardboard (all boxes must be flattened - NO CARDBOARD TUBES ACCEPTED)
- CDs and DVDs - NO VHS TAPES OR FLOPPY DISCS
- Cell phones/pagers
- Clothing (usable condition)
- Computer software
- Computer hardware - NO COMPUTER MONITORS ACCEPTED
- Electronics
- Engine oil - NO VEGETABLE OR PEANUT OIL
- Eyeglasses
- Fluorescent tubes/bulbs
- Hydraulic oil
- Ink/toner cartridges
- Metal
- Styrofoam (only clean, white Styrofoam blocks can be accepted - please do not bring cups, food trays, foam sheeting or peanuts)
- Tires - LIMIT OF 4 - NO TRACTOR, LARGE EQUIPMENT OR COMMERCIAL TIRES ACCEPTED
- Transmission fluid
- Flags
- Small electronics
- Therapeutic equipment (canes, crutches, standers, walkers, wheelchairs)
- Household paint (oil & latex, limited to 10 one gallon cans or 2 five gallon buckets)
In addition, our partnership with the Village of Northbrook provides an additional opportunity to recycle with an added drop-off location in Northbrook. The Village of Northbrook (www.northbrook.il.us) will be receiving at the garage behind the Village Hall on Cedar. Check the Village's web site to verify the times, dates and list of accepted recyclables.
